Score More Runs . . .It is not just about batting averagesThe batting order is every bit as important as the batting average. The batting order and the batting average both determine the runner scoring efficiency, and the game score! Defined simply as the number of runs divided by the number of runners reaching base and not caught stealing, the runner scoring efficiency is a true measure of team productivity. No matter the batting averages, major league teams leave more runners stranded on base than those scoring. The runner scoring efficiency for all mlb teams is generally below 50%, and it is less than 40% for some teams. Do you know of any other business or industry that can survive efficiencies this low? There are 362,880 possible batting orders! |
